ART NOW Talk with Waking Death Collective Members Annie Martin, Shanell Papp & Mia van Leeuwen

Art NOW is a free public speaker series that offers extensive exposure of artists, arts leaders and scholars in various stages of their careers, to students and community alike. This invaluable longstanding program of over forty years focuses attention on a broad range of contemporary artistic practices and issues, allowing for a unique learning experience that illuminates local, national and international achievement. The series is supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.

The University of Lethbridge Department of Art works in collaboration with units on campus as well as various cultural institutions to program guest speaker presentations on scheduled Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 12 pm MT throughout the fall and spring in the University Recital Hall. Presentations are 45 minutes in length, followed by a very short 5-to-10-minute Q&A session.

About the Series

Waking Death: Arts & Culture Event Series is a program of events that focus on death and related themes, bringing together audiences, artists, and guest speakers. The arts have an important role to play in supporting people’s communion with death and this series offers to create a space in which participating artists can share work with the Lethbridge community that reflects on our shared mortality, the nature of impermanence and grief, and the things that haunt us.
